Successful application for ZIM cooperation network "BioPlastics"

The grant application for the cooperation network "BioPlastics", submitted by the IBB Netzwerk GmbH, has now been approved by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. Funding is provided within the program "Central Innovation Program SME" (ZIM). The interdisciplinary cooperation network wants to significantly increase the market share of bio-based polymers.

Currently 20 partners, among which provenion, focus on technical projects for the development of innovative, degradable and low-priced biopolymers that shall be used in mass-produced products such as packaging.

IBB Netzwerk GmbH member of "Bio-based Industries Consortium" (BIC)

The network organisation represents small and medium-sized enterprises to accelerate the deployment of bio-based products in Europe by 2020. Ten organisations authorised Industrielle Biotechnologie Bayern Netzwerk GmbH (IBB Netzwerk GmbH) to represent them in the international non-profit association "Bio-based Industries Consortium" (BIC).

BIC is the private part of the public-private partnership BRIDGE. BRIDGE stands for “Bio-based and Renewable Industries for Development and Growth in Europe” and will be established in January 2014 within the next framework program for research HORIZON 2020 of the European Commission. It was initiated to realise the transition towards a post-petroleum society while decoupling economic growth from resource depletion and environmental impact.
